DAY 1: Welcome to New Orleans!

Start Your Story

Welcome to New Orleans - The Crescent City
Make your way from the airport with our included arrival transfer and check-in. After checking-in to our hotel, the STORY adventure begins today at 4:00PM with our special welcome by the STORY Tour Captain.

STORY Exclusive
Tonight enjoy a very special event as our adventure in New Orleans begins with a Reveillon! The Reveillon dinner is an old Creole holiday custom updated for our modern tastes and lifestyle — what began as a family tradition enjoyed in the home is now an extravaganza of good food and festive spirits and STORY welcomes you to New Orleans with this very special experience.

Later, we make our way back to our hotel for a good night's sleep — or perhaps your night is getting started!

DAY 2: French Quarter and Beyond, Vieux Carré (Old Square)

Discovering New Orleans

Avoid the touristic experience in favor of Story's expertly guided walking tour to unique perspectives found only in the French Quarter. Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral and the Cabildo spring to life as we immerse ourselves in everything N'Orleans! Dating back to the late 1700s, the historic cemeteries of New Orelans, called 'Cities of the Dead,' fill the natural landscape with elaborate stone crypts, ornate tombs, beautiful sculptures, and mausoleums. These mysterious necropolis, which are assembled above land because the city is built on a swamp, are popular among travelers because they house and honor some of NOLA's most iconic (and infamous) characters. We learn all about this amazing city's culture and history all at the perfect STORY pace.

St. Louis CathedralSt. Louis Cathedral

We return to our hotel for the balance of the day at leisure until our special experience this evening.

STORY Exclusive
We make our way to the impressive New Orleans School of Cooking (named the 2018 Traveler's Choice #6 Experience in the World and #2 in the United States by TripAdvisor) for a private, hands-on culinary experience from start to finish. Learn from master chefs the ins and the outs of both Nawlins' and Cajun cooking featuring favorite dishes from the deep south. Then we enjoy the 'fruit of our labor' paired with great wines — not into cooking? No worries — just sit back, and enjoy the ambiance complete with our own musicians. Note: This STORY Exclusive may be featured as a lunch or dinner - please check your final tour information.

National World War II Museum

STORY Exclusive: Freedom is Not Free
A moving experience designed especially for STORY Guests: This morning we make our way to the National World War II Museum, where we will take in an expertly guided tour and then have time on your own to continue your visit. The National WWII Museum tells the story of the American experience in the war that changed the world — learn reasons as to why it was fought, and discover again how it was won, and what that victory means for us today — so that all generations will understand the true price of freedom.

DAY 5: Swamplands & Old River Road Plantation Adventure

Cypress Swamps, Creoles, Pirates & Voodoo

This morning we will enjoy a narrated journey through scenic cypress swamps with our expert historian as we learn of a land of Creoles, pirates, slaves and voodoo. We travel the Old River Road to visit Laura, a Creole plantation whose charm is as rich as her history. Based on the "Plantation Memoirs" of Laura Lacoul, a young Creole girl who grew up on the plantation, the tour centers on the charmed and tragic lives of this sugar plantation's women, slaves and children. The tour takes in the manor house, gardens, and slave quarters.

Then we make our way to "the treasure of the Old South," the magnificent Antebellum Oak Alley mansion. With 28 three century old oak trees lining its entrance, Oak Alley is an exquisite reminder of a bygone era. Our tour centers on plantation history, the amazing antiques and the beautiful architecture.

At the finalé we will relax on the historic grounds and sip a Mint Julep! We return to our own Antebellum plantation house for the balance of the day at leisure.
