The Loire Valley

Day 1: Trans-Atlantic flight to Europe.


Depart Your Home Airport on your Transatlantic flight to Paris CDG.
Your international flight is not included. Inquire for special fare and service from our Air Service department.

NOTE: Please Note: "Day 1" is the published tour date and is the date you will arrange your air travel to depart your home airport. Your Small Group Tour will commence on Itinerary Day 2 upon arrival in Paris, France.

Can we help you with your Airfare? Yes, we can arrange your air travel from the Story Land & Sea®  air department. We'll work with you to get the absolutely lowest fare available based on your travel preferences. We utilize both our own air department and online agencies to find the best rate. At the end of the tour you should set your flight to return from Nice or Marseilles - inquire with reservations for details.
Remember, airfare is a completely separate arrangement from your land tour. It is your responsibility to arrive at the point of tour origination (Paris, France) on time regardless of whether Story Land & Sea® has arranged your air.

Day 2: Day at Leisure


   Included Dining: Tonight enjoy a special included welcome dinner.

Upon arriving Paris CDG airport, clear customs and meet our Expert Driver to whisk you away to your first night in France: We've included one pre-tour overnight in Paris to help you recover from your Transatlantic flight before you being your Loire Valley experience.

Accommodation: Enjoy one night at our select Classic hotel in Paris (inquire about upgrading to Deluxe for tonight).

The Loire Valley

Day 3: Valley of the Kings - UNESCO World Heritage Site


This morning enjoy breakfast and then begin your tour of the Loire Valley with our partner company in Paris.

Your first day will be devoted to the Château d'Amboise, the Château du Clos-Lucé, the gardens of Villandry and the city of Tours.

You will meet our driver and enjoy an air-conditioned coach accompanied by our qualified guide. After crossing through the southern neighborhoods of Paris, you will take the Aquitaine motorway for an approximately 2 1/2 hour ride until you reach Amboise. Take a guided tour of the Château d'Amboise, a UNESCO world heritage site. Discover the daily, private life of sovereigns and go behind the scenes of the Court. You will have free time to admire the castle's superb gardens, which offer a remarkable panoramic view of the Loire Valley. You can also take advantage of this time to eat lunch, either in the gardens or in one of the snack bars located near the castle.

Château d'Amboise

When you are done, meet up with your guide to head to the Château du Clos-Lucé, just a 10-minute walk from the Château d'Amboise. Discover the residence of Leonardo da Vinci thanks to a guided tour that will immerse you in the private life of this Renaissance genius. He was invited to Clos Lucé by François I and lived there for the last three years of his life.

You will then have a 45-minute drive to the Château de Villandry. In the company of your guide, discover the magnificent avenues of linden trees dividing the gardens into several different levels and plantations. You will be captivated by the various colors of the gardens of Villandry with their peaceful atmosphere.Next, you will continue to Tours (30 minutes from Villandry by coach) and participate in a guided tour of the old city: discover the charm of this historic neighborhood lined with enchanting half-timbered houses.

The day will end at a hotel in Tours for a dinner with the group and overnight accommodation.

Castles & Châteaus

Day 4: Chenonceau, Cheverny and Chambord


The final day of the tour will be dedicated to visits of the castles of Chenonceau, Cheverny and Chambord.

After breakfast, you will head to the Château de Chenonceau, located approximately 35 kilometers from the city of Tours. Take advantage of a guided tour to discover this castle that played a special role in the history of France. Also called "Château des Dames," Chenonceau was built and embellished by several female French figures such as Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de' Medici. As you visit the Château de Chenonceau, you will admire the elegance of its flowery furnished rooms and its impressive architecture built on the Cher river.

The next stop is Cheverny, approximately 45 minutes from the Château de Chenonceau. Your guide will take you on a tour of the Château de Cheverny, a 17th century seigneurial property, with its apartments conveying the French art de vivre with rooms such as the birth chamber and the private dining room. Once you have visited these admirably decorated interiors, you can enjoy an overview of the Château's superb park before eating lunch at the Saint Hubert restaurant in Cour-Cheverny.

Château de Cheverny

After lunch, you will head to the Château de Chambord, some twenty kilometers from Cheverny. This large Loire Valley château will unveil its fascinating, complex heritage built by François I in the 16th century. Behold its extraordinary architecture with the famous double-helix staircase in the center of the monument, and visit the former lodgings of the king and the château's other rooms on its various stories. The large terrace with its majestic chimneys offers a unique panoramic view of Chambord park.

You will leave Chambord at around 4:30 pm, reaching Paris at around 7:30pm.

  • Airfare is not included but it can be quoted by emailing here.
  • Trip Interruption and Cancellation Insurance is not included. We highly recommend to protect your vacation. 

    Remember, you are responsible to arrive at the Paris CDG Airport (tour origination).
     If you are delayed for any reason, your vacation may be at risk even if Story Land & Sea® made your airfare arrangements. Airfare is a completely separate booking from your Spain land tour vacation. You can cancel your vacation with a 100% refund up to 90 days prior to departure. Within 90 days you will begin receiving penalties per the terms of the Tour Application should you have to cancel.
