WE WILL BE VISITING: Sunset Crater, the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion Canyon, Lake Powell. Meteor Crater, The Painted Desert, and the Petrified Forest. Lectures by John Clayton and Alan Doty will be conducted onboard the coach as we travel from one site to the next. Then in-the-field visits will be made to the places discussed.

SUNDAY, SEP 10, 2018
Optional Worship & Orientation

Welcome to Flagstaff, Arizona, and the beginning of our week together. Tonight at 8:00pm meet for an optional worship gathering (communion service will be offered, no collection will be taken) and orientation to the week's itinerary. You will also pick up the trip materials that will assist you to get the most out of the trip.

Sunset Crater & the Grand Canyon

MONDAY, SEP 11, 2018

Breakfast 6:30 - 8:00

8:00 AM Depart Holiday Inn Express Flagstaff

After a continental breakfast, we're off on our motorcoach bound for Sunset Crater for a viewing and break. Legend says that 19th-century explorer John Wesley Powell named Sunset Crater Volcano because its rim of red and yellow cinders suggested the colors of a perpetual sunset.

Then we're off to a desert view of the Grand Canyon from the east end for exceptional views.

Afterwards, we will then transfer to Grand Canyon Village, where you can opt to walk a part of Bright Angel Trail with team specialist, Alan Doty, or just enjoy the views along the rim.

Bryce Canyon

TUESDAY, SEP 12, 2018

6-8:00am Breakfast
Enjoy breakfast and we're off for an early start en route to beautiful Bryce Canyon.

8:00am Depart Hotel to Bryce Canyon: lectures & Lunch (on own) en route

Afternoon: Enjoy two options for walking or hiking: More Challenging: Opt for the Master Hike long trail with team specialist, Alan Doty, or enjoy the short trail with John Clayton.

ACCOMMODATION: Best Western Ruby's Inn

 

Zion

WEDNESDAY, SEP 13, 2018

7-9:00am Breakfast
After breakfast we enjoy arriving at Zion National Park.

9:00am: We depart for Zion National Park with an anticipated arrival around 11am.

Options today include a more challenging Master Hike with team specialist, Alan Doty, or enjoy the park Trams, which provide great access to the park.

Optional lunch in the park.

ACCOMMODATION: Best Western Zion Park Inn, Springdale, UT

 

Glen Canyon Dam & Lake Powell

THURSDAY, SEP 14, 2018

7-9:00 Breakfast

9:00am: We depart on our drive to visit Glen Canyon Dam. Lunch at Lake Powell Marinas and Resort followed by 90 Minute boat  cruise  to Antelope Canyon. Drive to Flagstaff with study of geology and Navajo nation on the way.  

Spend the night at  Flagstaff.

Meteor Crater & Painted Desert with Petrified Forest

FRIDAY, SEP 15, 2018

6:30-8:00 AM Breakfast

8:00am: We depart for Meteor Crater to tour and and enjoy a visit to the station there. Lunch on the way to Painted Desert.

Afternoon:  Enjoy a tour of the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest.

Return to Flagstaff with anticipated arrival around 5:00pm. 

You may opt for a transfer to Phoenix (Sky Harbor Airport) for an additional charge. Or consider our extension to beautiful Sedona.

    • Breakfast at your hotel or venture out for Brunch at the Red Rock Cafe, El Portal, or Java Love Coffee Roasters

  • Evening Suggestions:
    • Drive down Highway 179 toward the Village of Oak Creek
    • Stop off and visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross for beautiful views in the afternoon sun
    • Early dinner at Cucina Rustica or the Grille at Shadowrock at the Hilton Sedona Resort
    • Say a reluctant good-bye and head home
